My name is Heather and I make fun art.
I grew up in Iowa on a farm, riding lots of horses and fitting in some portrait drawing here and there when I could. After graduating high school I was unsure of how to proceed with a creative career, so I attended Des Moines Area Community College and received my associate’s degree in Commercial Art in 2004. After doing some photography and photo editing for The Des Moines Register, I moved to Las Vegas in 2008 and spent several years as a graphic designer and Fabulous Sin City Rollergirl.
In 2012 I headed west to Los Angeles. I had recently launched Drunk Girl Designs, my Etsy store which at the time consisted of digital illustrations that were kitchen themed. That helped me land a position at Punch Studio, where I am currently the lead designer for their Molly & Rex brand.
Hungry for new challenges, I bought a set of watercolors in 2015 and quickly grew obsessed with painting. This led to me exploring other mediums and I eventually found myself working mostly in oils. I love the juxtaposition of silly or modern subjects paired with such a serious and historical medium.
